Hats and Mittens 2014

This is Zwingli's 13th year of supporting the County Holiday Outreach Bureau.  The hats and mittens are distributed to children    and  youth in Adams County.  We are happy to contribute 1200 items this year.

  Angel Tree

An outreach that our congregation becomes involved with during the Christmas Holiday. Zwingli reaches out to families in need,
a family name and need is placed on the Angle Tree, a congregation member makes a selection and the gift is provided and
 delivered to the family.

Missionaries Sally and Crosby Johnson,  Carolyn Weaver (Zwingli member) recently returned from a memorable spiritual journey to Puerto Limon, Costa Rica as part of an 11 member mission team to the Harvest Tabernacle Church led by missionaries Sally and Crosby Johnson. This was the eighth work team Shiloh UCC has sent to this impoverished coastal province in southeastern Costa Rica to assist in whatever projects the Johnsons felt needed addressed at the church and within the neighborhood. The team took 11 extra suitcases filled with school supplies for any church or neighborhood children whose families can’t afford the mandatory supplies necessary for public school admission.

The work projects included scraping and painting the sanctuary, three classrooms, an office, two bathrooms as well as the church exterior all within the first two days. A new electrical service was installed in the small church kitchen so cooking classes could be held for the teen girls. Gutters and the church roof were cleaned and repaired as well as the weather damaged road beside the church was leveled with pick and shovel, and 4 1/2 yards of concrete was hand mixed to improve the road surface. The team also taught three nights of Bible School as well as the youth Sunday school classes.

Numerous other projects popped up during the week which kept everyone very busy and tired. However, the team was rewarded in the joyful interaction with the children and families as well as the spiritual leadership and friendship shown by Sally and Crosby Johnson.

Pictures taken during Carolyn's visit; truly an uplifting experience!
